Business Education and Development Master's programme

Course outline, qualifications and competences

The master’s programme Business Education and Development prepares students for a host of scientific professions requiring a bachelor’s degree in economic sciences. Students of this programme receive a degree in business education and development, enabling them to teach at secondary schools and colleges and in adult education as well as in companies or other areas of business.  Students enhance their knowledge and abilities in three optional subareas on the subject of general business administration, ranging from accounting, finance, marketing, production, logistics to management, business mathematics and statistics. This programme provides in-depth knowledge of school education or industrial education (according to students’ individual focus), as well as providing them with the theory of pedagogical and didactical tools and the respective practical skills. A key component of the programme is the completion of an internship in a school. This should include business administration subjects such as business IT. Within the framework of this internship, students enhance their ability to plan and carry out lessons which include the use of various media. Over the course of the programme, students acquire additional soft skills for their future careers. They are able to use various different presentation techniques, and acquire social skills and teaching competences in the area of continuing education.

Expected results

Graduates of the master’s programme Business Education and Development will have acquired skills qualifying them for professional teaching as well as for expert work in all areas of business. Due to their education, they will be able to flexibly apply their knowledge and skills and adapt to professional requirements. Beyond their education in economic sciences, students will have acquired additional knowledge and pedagogical, didactical and practical skills for their future careers, as well as key soft skills.
