Environmental System Sciences - Business Administration Bachelor's programme

Course outline, qualifications and competences

The socio-economically oriented bachelor’s programme Environmental Systems Sciences - Business Administration provides basic knowledge that enables students to understand complex connections between human activity and resultant environmental change. To this end, students acquire knowledge of basic theories and methods of business administration studies (bookkeeping, accounting, finance, marketing, production and logistics, management, etc.). The sound specialist education ensures that students understand business management, enabling them to manage in a sustainable and environmentally aware manner. Intensive involvement with formal sciences (differential and integral calculus, vector analysis and statistics) promotes analytical, logical and networked thinking skills. Additional subject areas such as organisation and man-environment systems complete the programme. Students are able to design their own environmentally oriented elective course and this, combined with an internship in an interdisciplinary team, teaches them to tackle realistic problems and to develop communication and team skills, flexibility and the ability to think and act on an interdisciplinary level.

Expected results

Undergraduates will have acquired proficiency in theory and practice in the area of business administration. Beyond this, students will be able to understand man-environment systems and will have learned how to apply core systemic methods of problem analysis and management, thus enabling them to seek solutions for economic and environmentally related questions.
