Linguistics Master's programme
The master’s programme Linguistics will deepen and enhance students’ knowledge of Linguistics acquired in the bachelor’s programme. It provides specialisation within a broad subject range of Linguistics. Students have the opportunity of specialising in various areas. These include: Phonetics and Phonology, Theory of Grammar, Typology and Comparative Literature, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Neurolinguistics, Patholinguistics, Research on Language Barriers or Computer Applications. Graduates will be able to analyse complex and innovative research issues, to support them scientificially and interdisciplinarily and to present them in a written and oral form. The programme teaches students how to address linguistic facts under consideration of scientific, philosophical (epistemological), ethical and sociological aspects. Students are in a position to prepare scientific information and their own results for both a specialist and lay public.
Graduates of the master’s programme Linguistics will have developed the ability to engage in this scientific subject. They will be able to flexibly apply their subject-related knowledge and troubleshooting strategies to both new and unknown questions even in related disciplines. Graduates will have acquired general qualifications including abilities to express themselves excellently verbally and in writing, to do independent and target-oriented work, to grasp complex contexts rapidly and work with multimedia, foreign languages and a differentiated understanding of other cultures.
