Pharmacology Master's Programme

Content, Qualifications and Competences

The aim of this master's programme is to teach comprehensive scientific knowledge and methods in the most important areas of the pharmaceutical sciences as well as related fields. In the master's programme, students acquire in-depth knowledge of the development, effect, production and quality control of both plant-based and synthetic drugs and pharmaceuticals. The necessary knowledge is taught in experiments, laboratory exercises, lectures and self-study in the modules "Special Pharmacotherapy”, "Biogenic drugs”, "Synthetic Drugs and Antibiotics”, "Individual Drug Production and Personalized Medicine”, "Clinical Pharmacy and Health Management" and "Advanced Aspects of Pharmacy". Additionally, within the range of restricted elective courses, students can acquire specialized expertise in the field of pharmacopoeias, drug discovery methods, drug manufacturing, and quality control.

Expected results

Upon completion of the master's programme, graduates are able to transfer and apply scientific methods and insights of the pharmaceutical sciences to other issues as well as to prepare and verify the quality of medicinal products. In addition, they are able to provide information and advice to patients in relevant aspects of pharmacy and to physicians with regard to pharmacy or drug therapy.
