Molecular Biology Bachelor's programme
The bachelor’s programme Molecular Biology is offered as part of a NAWI Graz co-operation programme between the University of Graz and Graz University of Technology. The range of courses is broad, interdisciplinary and cross-academic. The programme focuses both on theory and practice and provides the basis for professional careers e.g. in microbiology, biotechnology, biomedicine or in agrarian economics and environmental sciences. The programme provides knowledge of chemistry, biology, molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology, cell biology, genetics and biochemistry as well as of physics and mathematics as basic scientific subjects and of neighbouring areas such as zoology, botany and computer science. During their studies, students acquire practical skills in the laboratory thereby learning about both the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and responsible handling of biological and chemical working materials. Students are in a position to use specialist literature to help them to deal with communicative, linguistic, textual, literary and general cultural questions using appropriate methods and theories.
Undergraduates of the bachelor’s programme Molecular Biology will have acquired basic knowledge of their specialist area as well as of neighbouring areas and will be able to understand, analyse and assess biological reactions and their interaction with the environment on a molecular, cellular and organismic level.
