Greek Master's programme

Course outline, qualifications and competences

In the master’s programme Greek, students’ knowledge and skills are enhanced, deepened and specialised. Besides continuously dealing with original Greek texts, students are taught about the reception of the writings in other literatures and in art. In addition, methodological tools are supplied for working with the history of reception. Greek studies are closely related to Antiquity studies, literary studies, philosophy and religious studies. Due to these ties, students have to learn to work interdisciplinarily, methodically and accurately when dealing with scientific question. Students are in a position to independently translate Greek texts of a high academic level, to analyse and comment on them, interpreting them under consideration of socio-cultural conditions. During their studies, students acquire key qualifications and soft skills for their careers. These include: communication skills and cultural competences, the ability to work in an independent and targeted manner and the ability to understand complex historical and socio-cultural connections. Last but not least this course prepares students for their profession. Graduates of Greek master studies are highly qualified to publish, translate, comment on and interpret material.
