Historical Science Master's programme
In the master's programme Historical Science, basic knowledge of history, the methods and theories of the discipline and competencies in the field of correct scientific work and historically specialized computer science and documentation acquired in the bachelor's programme are further deepened and extended. Students engage in a variety of topics and issues concerning history and humanities, enabling them to identify larger factual and (inter)disciplinary contexts. Likewise, they are able to adequately formulate and present their results. As specialization is becoming increasingly important in the scientific community, students are given the opportunity to set priorities in individual subject areas, allowing them to acquire in-depth knowledge of a temporal, spatial or specialized subject area. Students achieve the ability to implement results of their scientific research in practice-oriented areas as well as to successfully participate in cultural and scientific management projects.
Graduates of the master’s programme Historical Science possess in-depth knowledge of history, its contexts and significance for the present and future. They are familiar with methods used in the discipline and can develop, process and analyse historical questions by incorporating the latest research results. Furthermore, they will have acquired general qualifications and soft skills, e.g. method and theory-based problem identification and solution, subject-specific analysis strategies, multimedia skills, and rhetorical and presentation skills.
