Business Administration Bachelor's programme

Course outline, qualifications and competences

The bachelor’s programme Business Administration provides preparatory scientific education for entrepreneurial activities in companies requiring knowledge of and methodological competence in business administration. It provides sound basic education in all five core areas of the discipline (accounting, finance, marketing, production and logistics, management) with quantitative subjects such as mathematical economics and statistics serving as a basis for this training. Students are introduced to core neighbouring disciplines connected to business economics. These include: business law, economics, sociology and business languages. Today, English is one of the most important languages for science and business. Therefore it is also partially used during instruction and examinations in this programme. Students can specialise during their education by focusing on specific courses, which will be of utmost importance for their future careers. They also acquire specific knowledge and scientific skills (for working with traditional and new media to gather information, correct use of business terminology, independent and targeted compilation of scientific papers, etc.). Last but not least, this programme gives students the opportunity to learn and practice the theoretical and practical basics of various presentation techniques.

Expected results

Undergraduates will have acquired basic knowledge in all subareas of business administration as well as in relevant neighbouring disciplines. They will be able to independently explain and develop scientific and economic innovations using traditional and new media to gather information. They will not only have acquired subject-specific knowledge and competences but will also have gained crucial individual and social skills for their professional lives. These include a sound ability to communicate and cooperate within a team, an appreciation of the skills and abilities of others as well as observation and reflection skills.
